Charlie’s Bunion

Charlie’s Bunion is a 4 mile trail along the Appalachian Trail just four miles east of Newfound Gap. On the northern slope of the Sawteeth cliffs sits a boulder that was nicknamed Charlies Bunion. In 1928 a mountain guide named Charlie Conner got a swollen foot from hiking that lead to him getting a bunion on his foot. Charlies Bunion is a 1,000 foot drop off with an amazing view. The trail is rated moderate and has rocky turain.
